PEMF Therapy

PEMF Therapy FAQs

  • What does Pulsed Electromagnetic Field (PEMF) feel like as it is applied?

Blue Q’s equipment, the Pulse XL Pro Machine, allows separate settings for frequency (the rapidity of pulses) and intensity (how hard each one hits). We set these in combination to be at a level that is strongly comfortable for you. Your feedback is important to a great pulsing experience and will be used by our Pulse Professional to design therapy sessions that are uniquely customized to you. We will also train you how to use the machine so you can control and adjust the dials as needed.

  • What should I expect from my first session?

PEMF Therapy can help you feel energized, and this feeling can build for a few hours after a session. Take note of how long this feeling lasts as it may indicate how many sessions you will need to achieve your goals. But you also could feel tired due to detoxification that your cells have just undergone. To avoid this, drink plenty of fluids to promote rapid detox. It is also possible that you do not feel any change after the first session. It may take time for effects to accumulate and integrating PEMF into a robust wellness regimen often addresses long-term underlying cellular dysfunction that supports the body’s natural abilities to regulate and heal itself.

  • What are the other raw materials that optimize PEMF?

Drinking lots of water, having sufficient sleep, good nutrition, sunlight and consistent exercise all help to optimize the effects of PEMF.

  • What if I'm not getting results?

The surface-level inflammation of recently acquired acute orthopedic pain may dissipate within a few sessions. But a deeper dive into your body’s organs and long-term underlying cellular dysfunction takes much more time. As a general rule, it takes an average 10 hours of PEMF exercise to develop a foundation of energy to optimize cell function. Chronic, long-standing issues may take longer to respond, and a maintenance program may be required for best results.

The key principles to maximizing your Pulse Experience are: Strong Enough, Long and Frequently Enough, and Varied Enough. Strong Enough means that the Magnetic Field Strength (MFS) is comfortably strong for you. The stronger the MFS, the greater the benefits. However, lower strengths are required when pulsing near highly sensitive or injured areas. Long Enough and Frequently Enough can be anywhere between 30 – 90 minutes. One-hour sessions are recommended for optimal experience. Three sessions per week are recommended as benefits are cumulative. Schedule sessions no more than 48 hours apart. Varied Enough means trying different attachments or focus accessories, adjusting angle of the accessory to identify hot spots and varying pulse rate and strength from session to session to optimize the experience.

  • Who can benefit from PEMF Therapy?

People of all ages can benefit from PEMF therapy. There are no age restrictions and it is safe for everyone. Regardless of age, your cells will love a charge!

  • Who should not have PEMF Therapy?

If you have a pacemaker, are pregnant, have a history of seizure, or have any electronic device implanted in your body (that cannot be removed for the session), PEMF Therapy is not an option for you. Please call us about other appointment types that may be helpful.

  • What if I have had joint replacement surgery?

That’s no problem. Even if you have metal screws, plates, rods, or joints, you can have PEMF Therapy.

  • What do I need to wear for PEMF Therapy?

There is no required dress code. All PEMF Therapy is done while you are fully clothed. You can come directly from the office, from home, from school. You are welcome to remove your shoes, if you like.

  • How many sessions would I need?

This will be determined through your intake assessment. Different concerns require different amounts of treatment. We have affordable packages available.

  • How far apart should I space my PEMF sessions?

When you first start PEMF, it is recommended that you come three times a week (about 48 hours apart) since the effects are cumulative. But you can come every day if that works for you. After your initial series of appointments, we offer packages and maintenance plans with weekly or monthly sessions — depending on your case.

  • Do I need a doctor’s referral to do PEMF Therapy?

While many of our clients come to us at the recommendation of their physician, a referral is not required.

  • What can I do to get the most benefit of PEMF Therapy?

Getting good nutrition from the food that we eat, rest, and being well hydrated are a great way to support any wellness program. We always recommend chiropractic care to support total body healing. When your cells and your brain can talk to each other and energy is flowing optimally throughout your nervous system, any therapy you try will be more effective.
